Originally built by an Italian race car driver in 1924 as one of Los Angeles’ first automobile showrooms, Marvimon has reinvented itself as a unique stand alone, super-loft open to private events, outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions, exhibitions and productions. It now boasts a flowing 7,000 square foot floor plan (4,000 sq ft interior + 3,000 sq ft vertical garden courtyard) melding both interior and exterior areas making it a premier indoor/outdoor event venue. Depending on client needs, Marvimon is an excellent wedding site for up to 150-175 people for garden ceremonies and dinner reception. It can also hold 250 person cocktail parties, and 100 person screenings. Experienced, professional site management is provided. Located near downtown Los Angeles’ Chinatown and surrounded by Elysian Park and the Los Angeles State Historic Park, it has immediate access to the 110 and 5 freeways and is just minutes to downtown, Silverlake, Echo Park and Hollywood.
What’s so Green about Marvimon?
Marvimon is green because it has reinvented a centrally located, nearly abandoned 80-year-old building that is convenient to a variety of public transportation including the Gold Line and Union Station. The impact from demolition and construction was lessened by using as much of the existing structure as possible. Salvaged lumber from the demolition was recycled to make Marvimon’s vintage looking tables, benches, and wainscoting. The design reduced the original building’s footprint by 40%, converted the outdoor area into a permeable living oasis, and created a beautiful destination rustic wedding venue as well as an ideal environment for productions and events.
The strategically located over-sized courtyard doors and skylights provide passive lighting, as well as cooling and heating that minimize energy usage throughout the year by taking full advantage of the sunny, breezy, Southern California climate. Marvimon encourages and support green events and introduce clients to green planners, stylists, and other resources. Marvimon Productions also diligently recycles.
Finally, Marvimon’s multi-use nature lowers its environmental footprint- one building performs as a production studio, gallery, event space, office, residence, etc.
