From massive music festivals and film premieres to street fairs and sports events, there’s always something happening—it’s part of what makes our city so electric. But when you’re planning a wedding in Downtown LA, those big city moments can either be a fun bonus or a logistical headache.
Whether you’re hoping to avoid major crowds or lean into the energy of a city-wide celebration, it helps to know what’s on the calendar. Here are a few events and busy weekends to keep in mind when you book a wedding venue in Downtown LA.
Major DTLA Events to Know About
February
Grammy Awards at Crypto.com Arena
A huge draw for visitors and industry insiders. Expect street closures, increased security, and fully booked hotels near LA Live and the Crypto.com Arena—the same area as our Flora Chang event space.
Golden Dragon Parade
This Lunar New Year celebration in Chinatown brings heavy crowds, road closures, and limited parking near our Valentine and Millwick venues.
March
LA Marathon
With over 20,000 participants and a city-spanning route, the LA Marathon causes major road closures, including routes near Walt Disney Concert Hall and DTLA hotel zones. Plan accordingly if your wedding overlaps with race weekend.
April
Fiesta Broadway
Despite the fact that it usually takes place in April, this is one of the largest Cinco de Mayo festivals in the country. The heart of DTLA is transformed with stages and vendors and crowded with thousands of attendees. Any of our venues could see an impact.
June
LA Pride
Founded in 1970, LA Pride is the city’s original LGBTQ+ celebration and has grown into a weekend-long event with concerts, parades, and community gatherings. It brings high energy and big crowds right near Valentine and Grass Room. If your wedding overlaps with Pride weekend, plan for extra time on the road and limited parking.
August
Nisei Week in Little Tokyo
This week-long Japanese-American cultural festival features parades and performances in Little Tokyo. It’s a beautiful celebration, but it brings road closures and heavy foot traffic around Millwick and Valentine.
September
Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater
The Emmys always bring a spike in hotel rates and road congestion near LA Live. It’s good to flag this event if you’re hosting an autumn wedding at one of our DTLA venues.
November
LA Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center
This 10-day show draws over 100,000 attendees, creating busy hotel blocks and extra traffic downtown. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s definitely worth factoring into your logistics.
Other Events to Keep an Eye On
These events don’t always fall on the same weekend each year, but they can still affect traffic, parking, or hotel availability depending on timing and proximity:
- CicLAvia (rotating routes with rolling closures)
- 626 Night Market (crowds and traffic near Flora Chang)
- Lakers, Clippers, or Dodgers playoff games in the fall
Tips for Planning Around DTLA Events
- Check the calendar early. Before booking your date, check for major events that could affect roads, hotels, or parking.
- Let your guests know. If your wedding overlaps with a big event, give your guests a heads-up on timing, traffic, and alternate travel options.
- Book hotel blocks early. Events like the Grammys or the LA Auto Show can mean entire hotel floors are booked months in advance.
- Talk to your vendors. Florists, caterers, and photographers may need extra time to navigate closures or detours, especially for early arrivals or load-ins.
- Lean on your venue team. They’ve likely worked through it before and can help you plan accordingly.

These buildings have been part of DTLA for decades, evolving alongside the neighborhood itself. From industrial roots to creative reinventions, they reflect the history, culture, and energy of the city in a way that’s uniquely Los Angeles.
